Transitional Far Western (2350-1900 BP)

Wikidata ID: Q137698919

Overlaps in the region with Late-Lapita. In New Ireland, undecorated globular jars and restricted necks and out curving rims, with incision and some applied relief (bands and nubbins), lip-notching and red slip. In Tanga and New Ireland, the placer and sand tempers become more frequent (than calcareous) in transitional, although though they are present in Middle/Late Lapita and the calcareous are still present in Transitional.
