Pyroxenic Efate placer sand temper. Plagioclase feldspar, clinopyroxene, and opaque iron oxide grains. Microlitic fragments in which birefringent plagioclase microlites are embedded in tan to brown volcanic glass, felsitic fragments composed of microgranular quartz-feldspar mosaics formed by devitrification of felsic volcanic glass, and vitric or glassy fragments of tan to brown (or red) volcanic glass.
