Plagioclase-rich volcanic sand temper. Volcanic glass shards of vitroclastic texture.
PA2A has a full slide scan available. Imaged by K. Hardy and M. Leclerc, ANU.
Pyroxene-bearing and hornblende-free feldspathic temper sand embedded in clay paste containing a significant component of volcanic ash.
Pyroxene-bearing (but hornblende free) feldspathic sands with dominant volcanic rock fragments are pumiceous felsic glass. Contain vitroclastic glass shards of vocanic ash in the past.
Pyroxene-bearing and hornblende-free feldspathic temper sand embedded in clay paste containing a significant component of volcanic ash.
Volcanic sands temper (probably reworked ash)set in a clay paste rich in vitroclastic glass shards.
GG3 has a full slide scan available. Imaged by K. Hardy and M. Leclerc, ANU.
Volcanic sand temper, probably reworked volcanic ash, set in a clay paste rich in vitroclastic glass shards.
Abundant vitroclastic glass shards of volcanic ash imbedded in the clay paste within temper.
Imported from Halmahera. Different volcanic temper, with clay rich in curvilinear and branching glass shards of silicic volcanic ash. Quartz free.
Unique paste with high proportion of fresh volcanic glass shards (ash). Isotropic volcanic glass, pale brown or tan, with curvilinear, forked and branching shapes Sand made of vitrics of microvesicular (pumiceous) volcanic glass.
WmSu9 has a full slide scan available. Imaged by K. Hardy and M. Leclerc, ANU.
Volcanic sand temper exotic to Aru.
Vitric and microlitic.
