Feldspathic-Quartzose (Q137397124)
Dominated by feldspar and quartz inclusions.
Note that to see the 'Geology' layer (layer options in top right corner) you may have to zoom out.
Many fabrics have a range of abundances. The range maximum (top) and minimum (bottom) are shown.

Quartzose volcanic sand temper.
Volcanic non-placer. Feldspathic.
Unplacered sand temper possessing a 50-50 quartz to plagioclase ratio.
Quartzo-feldspathic temper.
Angular to subangular quartz-feldspar sand temper, including plagioclase and K-feldspar, lacking ferromagnesian grains.
Incised cross-hatched sherd. Dissected orogen temper. Fine grained may be natural and/or fluvial sand.
Double spouted pot, post-Lapita. Local temper.
Post-Lapita diamond impressed.
Post-Lapita parallel impressed. Local temper.
Plain sherd large platter, Post-Lapita.
Post-Lapita diamond impressed.
Dissected orogen temper.
Dissected orogen temper.
Quartzose temper from Southern islands.
Madang style. Paddle impressed. CAUTION: Section less than 30microns. Pyroxene grains (10%) range in size from 0.1 up to 0.7 mm in length. Quartz and feldspar grains (<10%) range from less than 0.1 up to 0.2 mm in length. There are some hypocrystalline volcanic rock fragments which contain large pyroxene crystals set in a ground mass of smaller pyroxene crystals, plagioclase, opaques and altered glass. The sherd also contains trace amounts of iron oxide and carbonate shell fragments.
