Vitric (Q137423652)
Dominated by vitric lithic inclusions.
Note that to see the 'Geology' layer (layer options in top right corner) you may have to zoom out.
Many fabrics have a range of abundances. The range maximum (top) and minimum (bottom) are shown.

Colourless felsic glass.
Pale to dark brown particles of volcanic glass, typically microvesicular and commonly display the cuspate margins typical for ash particles.
Glass-rich dacitic volcanic sand temper.
Glass- rich dacitic volcanic sand, type B. Marianas trailed sherd.
Poorly sorted dacitic volcanic sand temper of simple mineralogy and probable fluvial origin, composed dominantly of volcanic glass rock fragments.
Quartzose dacitic volcanic sand temper. Fine temper.
East Pagan, Apansantate beside Latte site '1819'. Quartzose sand temper.
Glass-rich volcanic sand , Type C, tan to brown vesicular glass. Marianas cordmarked sherd. Clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene.
Glass-rich volcanic sand , Type C, Marianas incised sherd. Clinopyroxene dominant, and orthopyroxene.
Moderately sorted volcanic sand temper in which essentialy all the temper grains, apart from subordinate opaque iron oxide grains, are isotropic volcanic glass.
Non-Lapita. Vitric glass. Well sorted, subrounded to subangular aggreates that are probably beach sands. Microlitic lithics are hyalopilitic.
Highly lithic sand temper.
Andesitic temper sand rich in glassy volcanic rock fragments and lacking any calcareous grains indicative of coastal origin.
Highly lithic sand temper.
Deeply weathered. Volcanic sand temper.
Poorly sorted volcanic sand temper rich in glassy volcanic rock fragments characteristic of indigenous Guam tempers.
Two kinds of volcanic glass, one being dark brown mafic volcanic glass, and the other being pale tan to colorless felsic volcanic glass.
Poorly sorted, subangular to subrounded, andesitic volcanic sand temper rich in glassy volcanic rock fragments of tan to brown hues in thin section.
Quartz. Vitric.
Volcanic sand tempers, predominantly, polyminerallic volcanic rock fragments, with reddish vitric (glassy) groundmasses, but also some with microlitic and felsitic groundmass textures (all suitable for derivation from andesitic source rocks).
Modern sherd. Pale glass (felsic) predominates over brown.
Modern sherd. Pale glass (felsic) predominates over brown.
Local sand.
Very weathered inclusions.
Weathered.
Vacuoles suggest the past presence of calcareous inclusions.
Sparse temper.
High ratio olivine to pyroxene. Indigenous temper. Intergranular textured lithics typical of alkalic basalt lava. Only clinopyroxene, no orthopyroxene.
